Trading With Heaven's Treasury

By Stephen Powell

In this article, I wish to discuss specific treasures which come from heaven's treasury ('owtsar in Hebrew). This is something sorely missing today: a proper understanding of the value system of heaven. God told me years ago that when you fear the Lord, you value what He values. We must always pray for His values for our government, for our judges, and for all those in authority, because when a judge fears God, he will be in touch with His value system in his heart when he judges. A judge who fears God will never rule to keep Roe vs. Wade because the fear of the Lord reveals the great value that God has for life. That value system brings forth what we call conviction in the church.

But the Church, in many cases, lacks conviction because we do not fear God. Because we do not fear God, we do not understand what He values, according to heavenly wisdom, not carnal interpretations. Understand today, saints, that there are many treasures that come from heaven, including judgment and wrath, and there are many forms of exchange that we need to be aware of, if we want to effectively trade with the heavenly realm.

In this article, I'll also specifically talk about the angelic involved in trade and exchange between heaven and earth. I'll make reference to my encounter that I had in Albany, New York this year, where I saw the angel carrying the offering to heaven to be presented to God, and I'll elaborate on some of the principles involved in working with the angels in the economy of heaven for maximum returns on the earth. I pray this writing is a blessing to you.

"The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow."

This is one of the most quoted chapters in the Bible, Deuteronomy chapter twenty-eight, where the Lord, through His servant Moses, lays out the covenant blessings of Israel that they would walk in if they "diligently obeyed the voice of the Lord" (Deut.28:1). In those blessings mentioned, the Lord specifically talks about His treasury, His 'owtsar, here in this verse, when He promises to open it in response to Israel's obedience.

The Lord says that He will open the heavens and the good treasure, and give rain to the land in season. So, heaven is clearly revealed here as having a kingdom treasury (this is not figurative, this is literal), and the Lord promises to send rain out of it, in season, to bless all the work of their hands. In ancient Israel's day, so much was dependent not just on the rain coming, but it coming at the right time in the right amount for the harvest. God identified His providential hand behind even the rain which was needed at the right time, and heaven's treasure room is identified as the source. This may seem extremely whacky to some, archaic and brainless to others, but know this: many of history's most brilliant presidents, scientists, businessmen, and achievers have recognized the providential hand of God upon simple things like the rain. All blessing comes from God, therefore He is worthy of all the praise!

(Job 38:22) "Have you entered the treasury of snow, or have you seen the treasury of hail,"

Rain is symbolic of blessing in Scripture (Is.44:3). Franklin Graham was famously quoted as saying at President Trump's inauguration right after it began raining the moment Trump took to the podium, that the rain was a sign of God's blessing (1). Snow and hail are symbolic of God's glory and power coming from heaven. When the snow begins to fall, it lights upon you, clothing you in a pure white substance. This is likened to the glory falling, mantling God's people in pure power from on high (Lk.24:49). Hail is more likened to the judgment and wrath side of God's power and glory revealed from heaven. God used hail mingled with fire to bring a judgment upon Egypt in His wrath against that nation (Ex.9:18-25). Ps.105:32 says that God gave them hail for their rain, and flaming fire in their land, rain representing blessing, and hail and fire representing judgment and wrath. But you see, in this verse above, taken from Job 38:22, God has a "treasury of snow" and a "treasury of hail." This is both literal and prophetic, speaking of His treasures of glory! God's release of kindness and of severity from this treasury are both classified as treasure. Both have value to God, otherwise, He would never release them.

God has whole treasury reserves of His glory stored up for generations, just waiting for sons and daughters of the Most High to access them! He has His treasures of snow (glory for mantling) and His treasures of hail (glory for judgment and wrath). So, why would judgment and wrath be a treasure? It's because judgment and wrath are a part of God's divine wisdom in His plan of the ages for dealing with sin - manifestly curbing and then ultimately putting down evil, and manifestly setting up the kingdom of His Son on this earth. Yes, everything rises and falls on the cross and the centrality of what Jesus has accomplished, but what people don't understand is that wrath and judgment are part of the cross. To everyone who rejects such a great gift of salvation, the wrath and the judgment of the cross will be poured out upon them in the last days. Wrath is not prepared for believers because Jesus took the wrath of the Father upon His own body when He hung on the tree (1 Thes.5:9; Matt.20:22; Jer.25:15). But to anyone who rejects this great gift of salvation through the cross, through faith in Christ, the Bible is clear that they will have to drink that cup of wrath in judgment (Rev.14:9-10). Scripture reveals the judgments of the Lord to be "true and righteous altogether, more to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb" (Ps.19:9-10).

There is a treasury room in heaven. In fact, there are multiple rooms with multiple treasures. Out of this treasury flows the economy of heaven, which is the value system of heaven. We need to quit being so sensual as His church and look beyond the treasures of simple financial increase which flows from the throne. We need to see the riches of God's glory, His goodness, His judgment, and His wrath. We need to see the treasures of wisdom and knowledge hidden in Christ (Col.2:3), which flow from this treasury, and ask the Lord for "the true riches" (Lk.16:11).

This I know saints: in these last days, we must have our eyes on the true riches and understand how to trade with the heavenly realm, and how to operate in and out of heaven's treasury by faith. This is crucial for our mission and it is also crucial for our surviving and thriving in the end-times as we draw nearer and nearer to the Lord's return. Live in complete faith, even in regards to finances. Understand what true riches are and ask the Lord to release those riches as you keep sowing into the heavens in faith, finances, prayer, the Word, decrees, and declarations. Now is the church's time to operate out of the fullness of this treasure room to see God's kingdom come and His will be done, just as it's being done in heaven (Matt.6:10).

(Ezek.28:1-5) KJV
1 "The word of the Lord came to me again, saying,
2 Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre, 'Thus says the Lord God: "Because your heart is lifted up, and you say, 'I am a god, I sit in the seat of gods, In the midst of the seas,' Yet you are a man, and not a god, Though you set your heart as the heart of a god
3 (behold, you are wiser than Daniel! There is no secret that can be hidden from you!
4 With your wisdom and your understanding You have gained riches for yourself, and gathered gold and silver in your treasuries ('owtsar);
5 By your great wisdom in trade, you have increased your riches, and your heart is lifted up because of your riches),"

Most theologians agree that in this passage in Ezek. 28, the king of Tyre prophetically speaks of Satan and his activity in heaven during and at the time of his fall. Notice the word, 'owtsar, used as the Hebrew word for the treasuries that Lucifer gathered his treasures of gold and silver into, which He gathered through his great wisdom and understanding. Here's some insight into why gold and silver are so valuable on the earth, and have been valuable since the beginning of time. It's because the value of gold and silver originated in heaven. It has eternal value. This is why there is a spiritual power associated it. You might say it's supernaturally appealing.

But notice how Lucifer is seen "trafficking" in these commodities because of his great wisdom. Traffic in Hebrew is "rekullah" which means to merchandise and trade. Do you see how business, merchandising, and trade came from heaven? This is why making money and doing business at its core, when it is done with integrity according to God's standards, is a godly thing. I believe this was the intent behind God commanding Adam and Eve to be fruitful and multiply (Gen.1:22). I believe God intended for them to bring productivity, increase, and a system of exchange and trade from heaven's economy to the earth. But as we see in passages like Ezek. 28, power and wealth can corrupt. In all of Lucifer's gifting and grace, in all of his wisdom and power, he did not humble himself and serve God with reverence and fear. It ultimately led to his fall. As we trade and exchange with heaven and in the earth, we must treasure Christ's love, humility, and meekness above all. These are the true riches of Christ's character and nature which God desires for His people above all else. What does it profit a man to gain the whole world but lose his own soul (Mark 8:36)?

3 "Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.
4 And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel's hand.
5 Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth. And there were noises, thunderings, lightnings, and an earthquake."

Although much of what John writes about in his Revelation of Jesus Christ directly pertains to the end-times, the time preceding the Lord's coming, you can still draw incredible insight from his writings about how heaven works. Passages like these are such a gift from the Lord! Here you see clearly an angel working in the exchange between heaven and earth.

The angel steps forward carrying a censer made of gold. Incense in scripture always speaks of prayer. When a plague broke out in the camp of Israel in Num.16, Aaron "stood between the living and dead, and the plague was stayed" (Num.16:48), because he was burning the incense in his censer as Moses instructed him to do (Num.16:46). When you pray, the incense you offer up to the Lord, can mean the difference between life and death. This is the power of prayer, which is a form of exchange between heaven and earth. That's right, prayer is a kind of spiritual currency, and God requires it to be in the mix if you are going to interact with heaven and benefit from its economy.

In John's encounter, He saw the angel offering before the throne both "the prayers of the saints" combined with "much incense" that He was given. This is what I saw that night in Albany when I was taken before the throne to see the angelic working with the exchange between God and man. It's real, saints! This is happening all the time. See it when you give, see it when you pray, see it when you make decrees, and partner with heaven in your life by faith!

Once the angel offered to the Lord the prayers of the saints and the much incense (which I believe to be the prayers and intercession of heaven for us), the censor was turned from carrying incense into carrying fire! The prayers were transformed into power and then hurled back to the earth for impact in our realm. This is how it works. As you keep offering up the prayers and incense unto God, eventually He will answer by fire. The power and glory of God will fall upon your life. The angels are directly involved in this process, and they move in and out of the treasury of heaven on our behalf.

7 "He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth; He makes lightning for the rain; He brings the wind out of His treasuries ('owtsar).
8  He destroyed the firstborn of Egypt, Both of man and beast.
9 He sent signs and wonders into the midst of you, O Egypt, Upon Pharaoh and all his servants.
10 He defeated many nations and slew mighty kings -
11 Sihon king of the Amorites, Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan -
12 And gave their land as a heritage, a heritage to Israel His people."
(Heb.1:7) ESV
"Of the angels, he says, "He makes His angels winds, and His ministers a flame of fire."
Notice how this passage here in the book of Psalms starts with something ascending, it starts with something going up first. This is the way of the economy of heaven. Sowing and reaping go hand in hand. In God's economy, there must be sowing if there is going to be reaping! There must be exchange. We must offer unto the Lord.
As the vapors ascend, God sends lightning (His awesome power and the display of His glory) for the rain (the outpouring of blessing in response to sowing into the heavens). As the outpouring comes He "brings the wind out of His treasuries ('owtsar)." Those winds are angels, servants of God who serve in His kingdom economy, moving in and out of the treasury of heaven, bringing treasure in as it's given from the earth in faith, and releasing treasure upon the earth in response to people's faith and kingdom activity. The angels rejoice to minister in this capacity, as the sons and daughters of God engage the economy of heaven, to be strengthened in their assignment upon the earth. As God continues to open up understanding and revelation on the subject of the glory and how to work with His heavenly kingdom, we will continue to see the greatest strengthening and enduement of power on the earth for this last day's army! It's exciting times we're living in!
I've included several Scriptures proceeding the verse speaking of the economic angels here in Ps.135, because I want you to see the effects upon the Egyptian kingdom as the economy of heaven flows. Egypt was and is a type of the worldly system built out of what I call the "grey." Currently in the earth, for the most part, there is neither complete light or complete darkness, there is the mixture of light and darkness. It's what Jesus referred to as the wheat and the tares growing together until the harvest at the end of the age (Matt.13:25-30).

In order for an economy to work on earth, it has to have some semblance of the heavenly economy, because systems built on truth bring prosperity and allow finance to work, even if it's just a fraction of truth. But in most cases, in every organized nation on the planet, there are levels of corruption which ultimately curb the nation's potential, because without operating in the glory you cannot rise to the heights God intended, even in the case of nation-states.
Even more, than suffering mediocre performance results, nations are subject to the shakings of Christ's coming kingdom as long as they are foundationally built upon the ways of the world. These ways are not in harmony with solid truth, the rock upon which the kingdom of God and His kingdom's economy are built. According to Heb.12:26-29, the Lord has promised that the fire of His glory will cover the earth, and in the wake of this fire everything that is not in sync with the voice of the Lord will be shaken. There are things that can be shaken in the earth because there are things that are not in harmony with God's Word, with God's truth. These things ultimately stand in the way of God's kingdom coming and His will being done. These things stand in the way of the fullness of life, health, prosperity, and the well-being of all. These things which are not in harmony with heaven allow evil to continue to reign, and our God has promised that these things will be dealt with! This shaking will change, greatly affect, and in some cases completely tear down whole nations in the earth. As this continues to unfold let us continually put our trust in God, sowing into the heavens, exchanging in faith going forward, and training ourselves to reign in the earth according to heaven's system, not the earth's. Too many Christians are completely dependant on an Egyptian financial system and don't even realize it. One of the surest ways you begin to instantly break free from this is to make sowing and reaping in faith part of your everyday life. As I tell people, bring your finances directly into your walk of faith. Don't leave finances out of it. Our trust must ultimately be in God and His economy, not the economies and systems of the earth, no matter how well you've done for yourself in this life.
As you see those winds coming out the treasury of heaven in Ps.135:7-12, you see Egypt coming under God's judgment. You see finances flowing to God's people. You see the lands in Canaan being transferred to Israel as a heritage while the pagan kings and their worldly systems come toppling down. This is but a prophetic picture of what God will ultimately bring forth in all the earth. But if we're going to ultimately see His kingdom come, we must see His economy come to the earth and work through mature sons and daughters of God who understand kingdom economics and exchange. We must know how to establish economic Goshens, climates within climates that operate on another set of laws and economic physics. This is what I see happening in the days to come, God will release Joseph's storehouse around the world, and there will be Goshens in the midst of the Egyptian world system as it comes under judgment.
